International Womens Day 8th March 2023

This year the DDLS and the DJLD are celebrating International Women’s Day on Wednesday, 8 March 2023.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrated worldwide. International Women’s Day takes place on the 8th March every year.

It began life as a National Women’s Day in the United States back in February 1909.  From thereon each year it has grown, and each year is celebrated.  There are IWD events in major cities worldwide on this day.

This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity, everyone everywhere can step forward to truly embrace this year’s theme!

This year is all about a gender equal world.  A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.  A world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.  A world where difference is valued and celebrated.  Together we can forge women’s equality.

Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.

International Women’s Day is all about celebrating women’s achievement, raising awareness about discrimination and taking action to drive gender parity.

International Women’s Day belongs to everyone, everywhere.

This year the international Women’s Day has numerous missions to help forge a gender equal world.  Here is a link which takes you to the International Women’s Day website where anyone can get involved - https://www.internationalwomensday.com

The DDLS and DJLD are celebrating International Women’s Day as a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.  This is a day to mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity and we support this.

The purpose of the day is to uphold women’s achievements, but it is also an occasion to educate the public on issues of concern, to address global problems and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity.

The DDLS and DJLD are getting involved and celebrating this year to mark the achievements of our local Law Societies.  We are hosting an afternoon tea to bring together members of the DDLS and DJLD for a lunch time of networking and celebrating all of our achievements. We are reinforcing our commitment to Women’s equality!
